They built a small fort for their cabins but needed a large corral to protect their animals. A year later, the Charles Willden family brought the first sheep &#8211; just ten head &#8211; in November 1852. Charles, a steel refiner in England, was called to help at the iron works, but he had the foresight to bring sheep to Cedar City to provide wool for his family&#8217;s clothing.
