The first issue of The Pioneer Magazine<\/strong> by Sons of Utah Pioneers<\/strong> (SUP<\/strong>) was in June of 1936<\/a>. The settlement of Iron County is nicely presented in Volume 64 Number 1 in March of 2017<\/a>. These magazines are among the best historical accounts of the west.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2021, SUP<\/strong>\u2018s Cedar City Chapter Board unanimously voted interest in the Southwestern Heritage Center<\/strong> plans. There are 110 members of the Cedar City SUP<\/strong> Chapter. It is anticipated the Cedar City Chapter of SUP<\/strong> will take the lead in managing the Southwestern Heritage Center<\/strong>. SUP<\/strong> regularly sponsors historical treks, and visitors to the Heritage Center<\/strong> will have an opportunity to participate in these treks, as well as in social activities and fireside discussions for Cedar City SUP Chapter<\/strong> members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Cedar City Chapter Vision Statement is: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cExtending the Utah Pioneer Heritage into the Present and the Future.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Cedar City Chapter Mission Statement is:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe strive to keep the Utah pioneer legacy alive by: SWHC provides an opportunity to work on each part of this Mission Statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Iron County Camps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Daughters of Utah Pioneers (\u201cDUP\u201d) was organized April 11, 1901 (http:\/\/www.dupinternational.org\/dyn_page.php?pageID=43<\/a>). DUP has an excellent Museum in Cedar City, Utah<\/a>. They have arranged for docents to be at their museum weekdays for many years, and will help the Southwestern Heritage Center<\/strong> learn how to optimally provide service opportunities. However, the facility is only large enough to show a small percentage of donated historical items. DUP is very interested in having a satellite museum, synergistic with their existing and other museums in Iron County, and a place to store artifacts they have already collected and do not have a place to display.
